The German international and arguable the masterstroke of the last summer transfer window Mesut Ozil was facing issues regarding his shoulder injury. Arsene Wenger believes Mesut Ozil will soon be back from a spell on the sidelines, after a meeting with the specialist treating his shoulder injury.
The Daily Mail has reported that the 42m player will be back in action for the league leaders but is a doubt for the FA Cup third round derby against North London rivals Tottenham Hotspur.
Ozil missed the 2-0 win against Cardiff on New Year’s Day. The Arsenal manager said, “The specialist thinks Ozil could be ready for Saturday. It is no big damage, just the pain now. I believe he will be short for Saturday and should be ready for Aston Villa”
Injuries are beginning to take a toll on all sides at the top of the Barclays Premier League, but appear to be hitting Arsenal the worst. Star players such as Aaron Ramsey, Olivier Giroud and Kieran Gibbs were all unavailable for yesterday’s narrow victory.
Wenger now faces a striker crisis, with back-up striker Nicklas Bendtner picking up an ankle injury whilst scoring in the 88th minute.
