Arsene Wenger might have brought in a big star in form of Mesut Ozil, but he has full plans of continuing the tradition at Arsenal of developing brilliant academy players.
Wenger has signed Semi Ajayi for Arsenal after he impressed the club officials during his trial for the clun.
The defender was used twice by the reserves where he scored on his debut in a 3-0 win over Blackburn Rovers.
Though Ajayi will not be getting any first team football very soon, defence has been Wenger’s main focus with the Gunners for a while. The reason is that the Gunners, despite being on top of the table, have conceded goals in five of their last eight games.
The teenager was impressive during a short loan spell at Dartford in December 2012, where he netted on his debut as well.
The Express claim that Ajayi was very close to first team football at Charlton, while the Metro state that Norwich City were interested in the youngster as well.
