Sporting Lisbon have been reported to have rejected an £8.5 million bid for their goalkeeper Rui Patricio. The bid was apparently made by an unnamed Premier League club.
A representative from that ‘unnamed’ club made an offer, and it was rejected by Sporting president Godinho Lopes.
Patricio has been linked with Arsenal in the past as well, and the Gunners might be looking for a keeper in the summer.
Previously, Wojciech Szczesnywas Arsene Wenger’s first choice goalkeeper, but he was replaced after Arsenal’s defeat at the hands of arch-rivals Tottenham Hotspur.
Portuguese newspaper Record has revealed that a bid larger than £8.5 million will be able to tempt the goalkeeper for a move away from the Portuguese club.
Interestingly, the 25-year-old goalkeeper’s contract expires in 2018, and it includes a £34 million release clause!
