Will Arsenal fans have another surprise this January as Mesut Ozil’s signing is proving to be jackpot? Benzema seems to be following Ozil at Real Madrid as he is failing continuously to win over the Madrid fans. Karim Benzema has always maintained his desire to remain at Real Madrid, even linked with signing a new extension on his deal which expires in 2015.
Benzema with all the fire power against him has failed to replicate his recent form with now going three La Liga games without scoring. This has failed to impress La Liga fans who also booed him in a few games despite of scoring two in a game against Galatasaray.
Spanish newspaper Marca described this situation as a ‘bitter controversy’ in their headline, writing:
“The crowd (were) turning against the French player. They whistled him during the opening moments of the match and the harrying did not let up.
Benzema is not a player who would have been an obvious candidate but the recent rage from the fans might force him to leave the club and especially consider Arsenal because the love his former team mate has been receiving is unbelievable.
Teammate Angel di Maria has even been speaking up about the jeering: “I thought the whistles towards Karim were unpleasant. Morata missed a chance and nobody whistled him. They have to be fair to everyone.”
