Match Analysis

Although Real Madrid opened the scoring through Gonzalo Higuain  when  Mascherano failed to clear a long ball of pepe to Higuain .The poor clearance of   Mascherano  provided Higuain the opportunity to skip pass him and scored the opening goal within 20 minutes .

Things turned bad to worst when C-Ronaldo back heel kick  bamboozled Pique   which allowed Ronaldo to advance to the goal  and had an ample  time  to blast a shot through the legs of Victor Valdes.

Adding insult to injury Adriano received a red card  for shoving Ronaldo to the ground.Adriano shoved Ronaldo to the ground after he was well beaten by Ronaldo as a  last defender .Referee gave Adriano his marching orders and Barcelona were  left with ten men .

Barcelona despite of all these hick ups got one back through a sublime free kick of Messi

Players Ratings

The below ratings are from 5

Iker Casillas 3

He failed to save the sublime free kick of Messi but he made some small and crucial saves in the second half which maintained the lead of his team.

Sergio Ramos 3

Depicted some touches of brilliance in the first half ,did not allow Barcelona front line to bombard much  but was completely dull in the second half . He  was caught out once or twice in the second half as the visitors put more pressure on his goal.

Marcello 3.5

Although his task was to defend but  had little to do defensively so he spent more of his time in the opposition’s defensive area .His breath taking long runs from the left side created lots of problems for Barcelona .

 Arbeloa  3.5

Was solid in the both halves ,also supported Di Maria up front when  Real Madrid surged  forward.Although few defense lapses were there but he dealt with  it quite nicely

Pepe 3.9

Remember it was his long  ball which  Mascherano failed to clear and brought the opener of Real Madrid .He was as usual solid at the back  and stopped Barcelona  from  scoring imminent goals

Mesut Özil 4

His silky footwork created lots of problem for Barcelona .After the advantage of Real Madrid he was hard to handle ,he often found himself in free spaces from where he created some dangerous openings  but as the match progressed his legs began to fail him

Xabi Alonso 3

Held up his role of provided long balls from the deep  but it was his foul on Xavi that gave Barcelona a free kick and a nervy moment to Real Madrid.

Cristiano Ronaldo 4.5

He was probably the  best player on the field, his speed on the counter attacks ,his deadly dribbling skills  were breath taking .He last night again proved that why he is called the most expensive player in the world .He was the one who doubled Real Madrid advantage  after scoring in the 19th minute.

Gonzalo Higuaín 4.2

Although he was the scorer of the opening goal but he missed numerous of chances in front of the goal,he  at least missed three to four chances in which one of them hit the post .

Luka Modric 3.1

Did not find his place in the staring eleven but came as a substitute in the second half and early on missed an opportunity to score .

Victor Valdes  4

Although he conceded two goals but made some exceptional saves which saved Barcelona from further misery .Specially  in the second half when Khadera after defeating  Barcelona defense laid a fantastic shot which was a clear cut goal but was denied by Valdes.

Gerard Pique 2.9

He had a bad  day last night .First Ronaldo slipped pass him for the second goal of Real Madrid and then was embarrassingly booked for an obvious yellow card on hand ball  and after the sending off of Adriano ,he up to some extend lost his path.

Adriano 1.9

He was probably the worst player on the pitch .He completely failed to judge the game ,fouled Ronaldo and   denied the Portuguese a clear sight on goal which  earned him a deserved red card. His sending off exerted extra pressure on Barcelona

Xavi 3.6

Struggled to impose himself in his usual manner in the first half, but as Barcelona were able to take control after the break, he came to the fore. Was as diligent as ever with his one-touch passing and vision in the middle.

Andrés Iniesta  Luján 3.7

Was the star of the previous leg but failed to impress in the second .The first half was completely dull for him ,his involvement in the game was very minimal  but came much better in the second half  ,created some half scares but   was not able to make the difference in the end.

Javier Mascherano 2

Was simply poor in the match. It was his poor clearance that brought the first goal of Real Madrid .

Lionel Messi 3.9

Messi like in the game of Ossasuna was not allowed to operate in a fashion for which he is renowned for   but somehow found his name on the score sheet after converting a sublime free kick .

Alex song 2

Song only found 15 minutes on the pitch and failed to make his mark on his debut .
