There is a bad news for Arsenal and that is, Arsene Wenger is refusing to discuss his title hopes, despite being on top of the table halfway through the season.
The Gunners were returned to the top position by a strike by Olivier Giroud against Newcastle in a 1-0 victory.
Wenger is planning to camp at the top and he has no plan of leaving that spot, but he thinks that it is too early to hope for the title.
“Look, we believe in ourselves and we are determined to give our best, and to turn back on the season at the end and think we have given our best.
“I hope it will be enough, of course, but it’s a long way to go. It’s too early to say that.”
Arsenal had to struggle against the Magpies who were not willing to give up easily, but the victory took them above Manchester City who are also considered to be title contenders.
Newcastle had won seven of their nine league games, and bothered Wojciech Szczesny during the first half extra time when a shot by Moussa Sissoko was saved. Mathieu Debuchy hit the cross bar once too and missed his chance to score.
However, Giroud’s 65th minute header won the game for the Gunners.
