Mikel Arterta is all set to make his return to the Arsenal squad after recovering from a calf injury, Goal.com has revealed.
There is a possibility that the Spaniard might be featured in the Barclays Premier League fixture against West Ham United. It is also expected that the 30-year-old will be fully fit, when Arsenal will play the FA cup tie against Brighton.
Arterta’s presence would be a boost for the Gunners as they lost two of their three matches in his absence. Also with Coquelin injured, Diaby could be used but his post-injury fitness might not allow that. With the defensive-midfield crisis, Arteta could be rushed back.
Arteta had picked up a calf injury during the training and was ruled out. It was assumed that the key midfielder would be making his way towards the starting eleven after two or three weeks but he has been making good progress and he is needed as well.
The midfielder did not take part in Manchester City and Chelsea defeats. He was also not in the FA cup victory over Swansea City.
He takes Arsenal set-pieces and is an important player for the squad. His crossing and passing is very strong and his absence has been felt by the team. Even Arsene Wenger has admitted to defensive-midfield crisis and he would be hoping to get this issue resolved.
