Arsene Wenger has warned every Arsenal player that if they want to play than they have to fight for their spot in the first team .Arsene wenger has insisted that every place in his team is up for grab .
Arsene Wenger yet has to decide whether to call their captain Thomas Vermaelen and keeper Wojciech Szczesny tomorrow against Swansea .
Thomas Vermaelen was surprisingly left out on the bench against Bayern Munich .
Even Szczesny did not travel with the squad to Munich and Arsene wenger proclaimed that he was mentally affected by the no of games he played this season .
On the other hand his replacement Lukasz Fabianski who despite of not playing for more than a year depicted an impressive performance.
Arsene Wenger explained the situation that
“They have played so many games until now. Their position is very important in the squad.”
“But every position is up for grabs. You have to face it like that, the last game decides the next one.”
“All the players are in the same position. Nobody is guaranteed places in the team.”
“Everybody faces the same competition and the players who have come in have been on the bench for a long, long time.”
“They all have the same problem, the job of being a top-level competitor is to deal with that.”
Wenger explained that Vermaelen understood his decision of leaving him on bench .He added
“Thomas has a fantastic attitude. He’s a guy who is absolutely outstanding with his attitude and motivation.”
“He has played many games in many positions and is a very important player in our squad.”
“They know there might be rotation with the three centre-backs — Vermaelen, Koscielny and Mertesacker.”
