Arsenal have been linked with a move for Cheikhou Kouyate over the past couple of months. The 24 year old central defender currently plays for Anderlecht an d his contract will end June 2016 but his agent has spoken in for Arsenal’s advantage and has told that the Belgian club will be willing to sell.
His agent speaking to the Turkish football has said, “We are discussing with the representatives of Arsenal and Liverpool, in particular the first are very interested in him. I also had contact with Manchester City and Southampton, so he’s very likely to arrive in the Premier League shortly.”
If Balkan is correct then it’s not likely Kouyate would be a first choice pick at Arsenal, but rather provide back-up for the excellent central defensive pairing Arsene Wenger has found himself with at the moment.
He’s a Senegal international but holds a Belgium passport, there would be no work permit issues on this one. The agent is obviously keen for a deal but even if he’s correct about Arsenal showing a lot of interest, the London club seem to be increasingly sounding out agents for moves and then taking a step back.
