Arsenal to sign Lyon’s midfielder

Surprisingly, Arsenal this time haven’t been linked to Gourcuff. Arsene Wenger seems to have been in a love affair with French players as he has targeted Maxime Gonalons in the summer after Ligue 1 giants rejected a 15m bid from Italian club SSC Napoli.

Rafa Benitez wanted to bring the France international to Stadio San Paolo, but has failed in his attempt to sign him during the January transfer window. Gunners boss Arsene Wenger is a long-term admirer of Gonalons, and will now be hopeful of securing the player’s signature at the end of the season.

Although a mid-season transfer for the player looks unlikely to the Emirates Stadium considering Arsenal’s plethora of options in the midfield. But the reports have been suggesting that the 24 year old is likely to move to Arsenal in the Summer Transfer window as Wenger identifies him a talent who could upgrade the current Arsenal’s squad.

Gonalons has made 22 appearances in all competitions for Lyon this season, and has proved to be an integral part of Remi Garde’s first-team at Stade de Gerland.
