Juan Mata has been on the fringes of Chelsea’s squad since Jose Mourinho’s return to the club as manager in the summer.
Willian, Oscar and Eden Hazard are all ahead of Mata in the Stamford Bridge pecking order so it’s no surprise his future at the club has been called into question.
Manchester United, PSG And Atletico Madrid have been previously linked with the most complete midfielder in the league but now Arsenal seems to have jumped in the race.
Although the deal seems unlikely to happen as Jose Mourinho doesn’t favor Arsene Wenger much previously blocking Demba Ba’s loan move to The Gunners. But if Arsenal splash some cash like they did for Ozil who knows that they might land Juan Mata who has been Chelsea’s best player since last two seasons and now doesn’t seem to be the part for Mourinho’s plans.
You would have to say a move to Arsenal is an outside bet but everyone would have said the same about Mesut Ozil in the last transfer window. The Gunners are full of attacking midfield players so adding another shouldn’t be top of their January wish list. A new striker would be a much more logical addition. But Gunners could do really well with a winger as Mata is equally good on the left hand side.
With the front four of Giroud, Mata, Ozil and Cazorla, Arsenal could cause havoc for any defensive unit in the world.
