LazioNews24 have revealed that Arsenal are planning to make a £25 million bid for Lazio midfielder Hernanes in January.
The 28-year-old joined the Serie A side in August 2010 from the Brazilian side Sao Paulo, and he has been linked away from the club since he started giving brilliant performances for his side.
Arsenal were apparently very interested in Hernanes during the summer, and it has been claimed that their arch-rivals Tottenham Hotspur also wanted to secure Hernanes services then. However, a deal was not achieved.
However, this news is a little bit of a surprise for me, because one does not expect a team to chase a playmaker when they have Mesut Ozil in their squad. The player has been in tremendous form since the day he wore the Arsenal colours, and pursuing another such player would be a rather bizarre thing to do. Considering how Arsene Wenger is, he would rather spend that money strengthening some other part of his squad than midfield.
