The talented Spanish midfielder, who has a great record against Manchester Unites, was left out of the Chelsea clash when the Blues faced the Red Devils on Monday. The other North Londoners, Tottenham Hotspur, are apparently making a bid for the player, but the Gunners are planning to hijack their deal according to the Daily Star.
The newly appointed Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho has openly said that he will not sell Mata, but seeing how he has been treating the player since the season began, other clubs are getting another message.
Now, when the Blues have signed the Brazilian midfielder Willian, Mata will have to consider other options because he is looking out to make his place in the Spanish national team for the World Cup.
However, the quotes used by the Daily Star to strengthen their news are just plain Arsene Wenger quotes. He merely points that he likes the player and that he is in the football market. There is nothing further said about the Mata saga so if you are going to get your hopes high because of the Star report, prepare for disappointment.
“I like him,’ said the Gunners boss.
“Everybody knows we are in the market. The whole world knows that now.
“I cannot be more creative than that, because all has been said and nothing has been concluded.”
