Arsenal scouts will be present at Old Trafford tonight to scout West Ham midfielder Mohamed Diame as they try to sign him this month.
Goal.com has revealed that Arenal wanted to finalise their choice in December but then stopped to judge his fitness levels before taking a step forward.
Diame has a £3.5 million trigger clause in his contract which was signed when he joined West Ham from Wigan Athletic last summer.
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger believes that Diame will be good signing and he was waiting for him to recover from his hamstring injury that he had picked up against Liverpool on December 9.
On the other hand, West Ham are trying to offer Diame a new contract that will increase his wages and release clause but no final decision has been made yet.
Arsenal are under constant pressure from the fans and they are in need of new signing who would be ready to play right away, considering Mikel Arteta is not coming back this week.
Arsenal scouts will also be looking closely at Diame’s fitness level. However, his form before his injury was excellent and since his recovery, he has been impressing people.
Diame was not used by West Ham against Sunderland and the player saw his team lose as an unused substitute.
Arsenal has still not made any January signings but they are looking to sign a striker, goalkeeper and central midfielder. They are currently battling with Manchester United over Wilfried Zaha, who has grown up as an Arsenal fan.
