Who would have thought that on the brink of the deadline day Arsene Wenger would manage the coup of the season in the shape of a master class Ozil & Viviano. As this signings managed to bring smiles on everyone’s face, a certain Arsenal star is slightly annoyed by the signing of Italian International. If Mesut Ozil was the star of deadline day, Emiliano Viviano was firmly on the undercard as a supporting act. Arsenal secured the Italian international goalkeeper from Palermo on a season long loan, to provide competition for Wojciech Sczesny.
Lukasz Fabianski, who is not happy by the signing of another goalkeeper, thinks that his time at Arsenal is under threat as he would be low down the pecking order with the new goalie’s addition. In his interview to the club’s website he said,
“I want to continue to fight for my place. It was frustrating to be out due to injury, it was not the first time and I lost my place.”
“For me there is too much competition, I’m older and I want to play on a regular basis. I want to play more; I have been competing for years for the number one place.”
Now the above comments clearly reflect that he wants the number one place at Arsenal. It is quite evident that he has hinted towards the new signing Viviano who has pushed Fabianski down the pecking order.
Fabianski proved last season he was far from the shaky error-prone goalkeeper he was when he arrived, turning into a reliable understudy, fitness aside. But Arsene Wenger has clearly made his decision with regard to his goalkeeping spot, and Fabianski is not in his first team plans, seemingly third choice at best.
