Arsenal have mostly been criticized for their defense being vulnerable but for the past two seasons the back four has been stable for the Gunners. Steve Bould’s inclusion in the squad has had a good effect on the team with the likes of Laurent Koscielny and Per Mertasacker reaching their full inclusion. It is indeed true that with the continuation of Steve Bould’s tenure would help developing young stars and this is the reason why Gunners have signed a potential quality young defender.
Semi Ajayi, a former product of the Trust’s Advanced Centre, has signed for Arsenal FC.
The defender confirmed on his Twitter feed on Tuesday afternoon he is signing a two-year deal with the Gunners, who he has been on trial with since August, with the Addicks releasing him from his contract one year early.
The Crayford born centre back is also eligible to play for Nigeria at international level and recently played for their under 20 side in the Toulon Tournament.
Ajayi lifted a trophy last season, helping Charlton’s under 21 side win the Professional Development League 2, South League.
He said, “It was sad to end my ten year spell with Charlton this summer but I can’t speak highly enough of all the wonderful people I met during my ten years there.”
