Some solid reports of Arsenal getting in the race for Bayern Leverkusen star have been thrown around the internet. We all know Arsenal are in a hunt for a midfielder to provide them stability in the middle of the park as Arteta has been playing in the double pivot which is not an ideal role for the Spaniard.
Apparently, Arsenal are in the hunt for one of the both talented Bender brother, Lars Bender. The Mirror believes the Gunners’ side will offer a bid in range of the £19m that was rejected two months before. It is believed this will be just enough to tempt the Bundesliga club to let go the highly rated 24-year-old midfielder.
It is believed the German international will arrive as companion and eventually replacement for Spaniard Mikel Arteta. The Gunners are believed to have in excess of £70m to spend this transfer window but Wenger has repeatedly claimed that while he is ready to spend he does not see value for money players available which is baffling as they have lost out on Gostavo, Higuain and Luis Suarez. They made a bid for Fellaini in the start of the window but that seems to be calmed down to an extent.
Bender started 32 games in the German league last season and had a netted in nine goals for his club. His shows in the centre of the field helped the Leverkusen side to the third spot in the championship and there lies the first of two major problems for Wenger which Arsenal can get rid of provided they land in the quality player.
