There were such huge reports of Arsenal signing Josep Drmic; a very talented and a prolific striker from FC Nuremberg. Lother Matthaus also reported that Drmic will be an Arsenal player but the news today reported that Bayer Leverkuson have completed the signing of the prolific striker with Arsenal now definitely losing out to another of their prime targets.
This announcement represents something of a turnaround after after initial claims in Germany that Arsenal would clinch the signing of Drmic for around £8 million. Lothar Matthaus, now a TV pundit, made the assertion, and was insistent that the player would be moving to north London.
It remains unclear if Arsenal ever had any genuine interest in Drmic, but that now is irrelevant with the 21-year-old set to stay in Germany. The acquisition of another striker is a summer priority for Arsene Wenger, and they must now look elsewhere.
