Is Olivier Giroud having a bad patch or Arsenal fans are expecting from him a bit too much? It definitely is both. Olivier Giroud has improved himself a lot when he first came at Arsenal but he isn’t someone who could score 25-30 goals a season and guide the team for a league win. But considering his potential he has over achieved at Arsenal and shouldn’t be slated like he is by some of the Arsenal fans.
Arsene Wenger has been the latest among those who has said that Giroud should do better. But if he wants his only prolific scorer to do well he should give him a lot more rest.
The France international’s goal in the midweek win over West Ham moved him on to the 20-goal mark for the campaign and he has been one of the most consistent performers for the Gunners this season. However, Wenger insists there is more to come from the 27-year-old.
He said, “He is a strong lad, strong mentality, strong positive guy. He has a great mentality. He has scored 20 goals – that is a great record and he is working very hard for the team. Maybe he has improved his finishing but there is still some room for improvement. For example you expect him to score more headers.”
