Some sources had linked Arsenal with Michu this January but is the move really possible? Swansea have renewed the Spaniard’s striker and he has had an extremely positive impact on the club, so they will not be willing to give him up easily. However, the Swans could sell him if the bid exceeds £15 million.
Michu has been one of the best transfers this season, and Swansea had signed him for a fee of £2 million last summer.
Arsenal are in need of what Michu can provide: the attacking threat that Arsenal provided other clubs with Robin van Persie in their squad.
Why Swansea have signed another deal with him is the real question – and the answer to it is not very difficult. Swansea wanted to wait and watch if any club would lure him off this January, but they saw that nobody did, they tied him up into another contract. It could also show other clubs that Swansea are in no mood of giving him up that easily.
Arsene Wenger admires him and he would really like to sign him so that his fans would also be happy with him.
As for Michu, he would like to move to a big club to make himself more mentionable. Not that he has not made a big name for himself, but playing for a bigger club is obviously safer because his team can not get relegated.
Michu, is however, not perfect for Arsenal. They do need a striker, but they need a clinical finisher. Unfortunately, Michu is not a clinical finisher.
