Atheltic Bilbao defender Fernando Amorebieta might be on his way to the Emirates, after his agent revealed that the club is currently in talks with him.
Amorebieta’s contract will expire at the Spanish club when this season ends, and talks with the club has broken down earlier.
Despite interest from Russia, the defender wants to join the Premier League.
His agent Gines Carvajal also revealed that he held discussions with Anzhi Makhachkala, but the player wants to join the North Londoners as a free agent in Summers.
“We have had some contact with Anzhi, they were ready to make a good offer, but my client wants to play in England so the transfer to Russia was not possible,” Carvajal is quoted in the Daily Mirror from a Russian newspaper.
“We are in talks with Arsenal, he could join them in June.”
Amorebieta has made more than 250 appearances for Bilbao. He has also been linked with other clubs like Everton, Liverpool, AC Milan and Barcelona.
