Inevitable has happened and the love story is reignited again as The Gunners are once again linked to Lyon’s Yoann Gourcuff for the past 5 transfer windows. According to Le 10 Sports The Gunners have opened a dialogue with French International midfielder.
Arsene Wenger was thought to be intent on adding striking reinforcements to his to his team following the season-ending injury to Theo Walcott.
However, the Gunners boss has sensed an opportunity to sign a long-term target in Gourcuff and, despite holding plenty of stock in midfield, has entered talks with Lyon over a permanent deal.
Lyon, who are currently experiencing financial difficulty, are keen to offload a high-earning star in the near future.
Arsenal’s only issue for the deal could be the player’s huge wages believed to be around 200k/week. Gourcuff’s deal has just 18 months to run and is unlikely to renew meaning Arsenal will be able to sign the player for between £4m and £8m.
