There might not be many World Class strikers available in the coming transfer window with Lewandowski signing for Bayern Munich. Arsene Wenger did have his eyes set on the Polish striker but he lost out to the definite winner because in all honesty Lewandowski would’ve chosen Bayern. So now Arsenal have to look out for their options in order to match the likes of Sergio Aguero and Luis Suarez.
Jackson Martinez expressed his desire to play for the Gunners but for now there are no reports of Arsenal linking with him.
During the January transfer window there were repeated reports linking Arsenal with a move for Benfica’s young Spanish striker Rodrigo. The Portuguese club were holding out for Rodrigo’s €30m buyout clause and thought they could get that from Zenit but the striker wasn’t interested in such a move.
O Jogo report on Tuesday that a potential Arsenal bid of €34m would make them clear favourites for the player. That’s not least because Rodrigo would welcome the move. His father has said in the past that the striker wanted to go to one of the world’s biggest leagues, not Russia, and there are few, perhaps none, bigger than the Premier League.
