Arsenal forced to match Ozil’s fee to sign World Class striker

Arsenal have been constantly linking with the players from Santiago Bernabeu since the last couple of transfer windows with successfully landing one of the best number 10s in the world, Mesut Ozil. If we flashback a little we’ll notice that Gunners were linked heavily with Gonzalo Higuain but lost out to Napoli as Wenger wasn’t willing to pay the desired amount.

Arsene also wanted to land either of Di Maria and Alvaro Morata. We understand that Morata is unlikely to be landed by The Gunners as they need world class quality and experience. Hence, Wenger has opted to go for Karim Benzema who is likely to be replaced by Radamel Falcao or Luis Suarez at Real Madrid.

The French striker has had a significantly improved season under Carlo Ancelotti than he did under Jose Mourinho, but Real Madrid are still hoping for an upgrade in the summer.

Premier League trio Arsenal, Manchester United and Chelsea are all keeping tabs on the 26-year-old but face an uphill battle to convince Real Madrid to lower their asking price.
Real chiefs believe Benzema is worth as much as Mesut Ozil, who was sold to Arsenal last summer for £42.4m. They’ll accept £40m, but no less.
Such a fee would be a risk for a player who has experienced indifferent spells of form throughout his time at the Bernabeu. However, desperation from the Premier League elite to sign a world-class striker could force their hands.
