Arsenal are considering an appalling move for Manchester United’s biggest flop this season, Tom Cleverley. No one would’ve ever thought that Arsenal despite of having better midfielders than Cleverley in their youth ranks they’ll move for Tom Cleverley of all people.
Daily Mirror has reported that Arsene Wenger has decided to stay for a couple of seasons and is seriously thinking of re-building Arsenal in the areas The Gunners are lacking quality. But considering Tom’s previous couple of seasons he would hardly be an upgrade in the strong midfield department especially when Diaby is coming back.
Amongst a number of signings that Wenger wants to bring in is a long-term replacement to midfielder Mikel Arteta. The Spaniard is entering the last year of his contract and there are no plans to renew his deal. Wenger wants to find a replacement this summer, who would benefit from Arteta’s experience.
Surprisingly, Wenger sees Manchester United’s struggling midfielder Cleverley as a potential target. The England international has struggled under David Moyes this season and has been linked with an £8m move to Everton this week.
Moyes’ dismissal on Tuesday has thrown his future into the air but, after another poor season and a £200m spending spree due at Old Trafford this summer, he could be one of a number of stars facing the chop.
