The Metro have reported that Arsenal are ready to strengthen their squad which continues to be battered by injuries by signing Portuguese anchorman from Sporting Lisbon. Record, a Portuguese newspaper, claims that The Gunners have made an inquiry for the 21 year old. The publication claim that the Gunners are close to netting a deal for Sporting Lisbon’s William Carvalho, who is of course one of their top targets.

Arsenal have of course been ravaged by injury, with the latest being a huge blow to Theo Walcott, who has been ruled out of this summer’s World Cup for England.

This has of course led the Gunners to be linked with a host of forwards, including the likes of Alvaro Morata, but it seems to be Carvalho who they are most likely to land.

Wenger has money to spend this winter and is not afraid to do so, with a list of top targets being mooted.
As one of our punters notes, the Gunners may be flying high this season but there are more than a couple of positions that they need to strengthen.
