Borussia Dortmund have admitted today that they are not sure about the future of Ilkay Gundogan. This has put Manchester United and Arsenal on high alert as both the English giants want to sign the player.
The midfielder’s talent has attracted a lot of attention in Europe, and the Red Devils have been chasing him for a while now.
At first, it was assumed that BVB would not let him leave but the CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke has revealed that they are not sure if the German midfielder will sign a new contract or not.
Dortmund will apparently lose Robert Lewandowski in the summer too, and Watzke is hoping that he will not have to wave Gundogan goodbye too.
“It is our absolute desire that besides Robert Lewandowski no other regular player leaves the club,” Watzke said.
“Only in the case of Ilkay Gundogan, we do not yet know how it will turn out. We would love to extend [a contract] with him.”
Gundogan’s price-tag is said to be around £25million by Dortmund.
