Spanish newspaper AS have claimed that Santi Cazorla is interested in returning to Spain by joining Atletico Madrid. Cazorla joined Arsenal in 2012 from Malaga and became the central man at Arsenal.
Atletico are in search of a replacement for Diego Ribas and thus want an established attacking midfielder. However the AS story is not very reliable since they consider Cazorla’s contract till 2016 which has been extended to 2017 recently.
Atletico would not really have financial issues while signing the player since the newly crowned champions of Spain are expected to make large profit due to player sales and they could spend some on acquiring the services of Santi Cazorla.
However, Arsenal have lacked stability at the club for the last few seasons now since a big name departs every summer. Wenger would be hoping to keep his players while signing squad reinforcements in form of a world class striker to challenge for the title next summer.
