As we expected, Arsenal have continued their hunt for the strikers even after the window is closed just because they simply don’t have the depth to ensure they can challenge for the Premier League. With Giroud’s injury scare, Arsenal might not be in a solid position to start their Champions League campaign.
An ex Bundesliga striker is on Arsenal’s radar, who was in Schalke a few months ago but for some reasons was released by the club. The player is Romanian international Ciprian Marica, who is a free agent after recently leaving Schalke.
His agent has today claimed, “He’s close to joining Arsenal, but we have to wait for the next week.”
The transfer window may have closed but as Marica is a free agent he would still be allowed to sign for The Gunners this season were they to want to bring him in.
Ciprian Marica is a striker who began his playing career in his native country of Romania for his local club Dinamo Bucuresti. During his career he has also played for Shakhtar Donetsk, VfB Stuttgart, and Schalke 04.
Marica has been sighted as the most talented Romanian player in the current era with having good skill on the ball. Although, he might not be a regular starter but would be more than a good cover for Giroud.
